The correctional chaplaincy course consists of 24 hours of classroom instruction and is held on two Friday & Saturday weekends.  Both parts must be attended in order to complete the course (unless excused). Classes are scheduled regionally throughout the State of Michigan.

Course Objectives:
  1. Examine the role of a correctional chaplain and chaplaincy programs
  2. Survey of the criminal justice system
  3. Analyze the rise in female crime and the female offender
  4. Discuss security related procedures within a county jail
  5. Establishing effective guidelines in counseling the incarcerated
  6. Developing counseling skills through practical case studies
  7. Updated information and chaplaincy strategies
